Our story begins with a comment from a friend when discussing the beautiful paintings bequeathed by Uncle Jim.

"Why don't you invest in them?" The brain cogs leapt into action and we've been holding back ideas ever since!

With my background in design and marketing, my mother's background as a seamstress and my father who's run his own business for over 50 years, we pooled our experience and added in Jim's paintings and, voila! Wentworth of Yorkshire was born.

We sat leafing through the vast array of watercolour paintings, our brains bursting with ideas and we started our journey...

"Start simple" was father's wise advice. So with this in mind, we've honed in on our ideas for the launch season and the rest are shelved for future release. Concentrating bravely on one size of painting, one size of silk scarf and a greetings card, we stepped into a whole new business world.

Working with the fashion seasons, we made our careful selection for AW24, which wasn't an easy task as we had a large quantity of paintings to choose from, and these would have been mainly painted in the summer months - typically April to October. So landing on some snow scenes was really quite an exciting find.

We were successful in finding an excellent printing partner who has reproduced these paintings to such a standard you can hardly tell them from the originals. We sat down with him and carefully chose Daler mounts to complement each print. And double mounts too - these pictures were worthy only of that.

We teamed with a wonderful silk mill in Macclesfield, the renowned silk capital of Great Britain, who has printed our designs onto the most beautiful quality silk. We designed the scarves in-house, borders being one of our must-have criteria, and we created a winter palette of colours to bring out the best in each painting.

The first batch of scarves to arrive were all handrolled by mother, who had done this numerous times during her life as a seamstress, although not quite so many in one go before! All our scarves will be rolled by hand, another of our high quality standards.

We hope you enjoy our scarves and pictures as much as we do.

Follow us on our journey to see what else evolves from this beautiful art.

Rhoda.
